Tangmere Primary Academy is a village primary school with a nursery for 3-11 years old with over 180 pupils based in Chichester, West Sussex. The school is part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT).
Tangmere Primary Academy held an exciting Careers Day on Thursday the 30th of January, with a total of 12 volunteers inspiring the children. Kirsty Luff (deputy headteacher) was pleased by the number of volunteers that were able to come but was a little concerned that there might actually be too many! With some further thinking about the event, she realised that they could run two parallel ‘What’s My Line?’ Assemblies. This meant that more children had the opportunity to engage with volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds. Kirsty commented that the teaching staff were amazed by the range of volunteers they had coming into their school and are excited to use the Primary Futures platform again in future.
The Careers Day was targeted at the year 5 and 6 children who participated in a Speed Networking activity after the ‘What’s My Line?’ Assemblies. They arranged tables in the hall where volunteers could set out props and activities to show to the children who rotated around learning about their different careers. Kirsty said that her only regret was that they didn’t have more time. Each of the children got to engage directly with around 4-5 volunteers and would have loved to meet all 12!
